Mary Janes are nice,
Ballet flats are too,
T-straps reign supreme,
Challenge me, I dare you.
Ok, I suck at poetry, but it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this passionate about a shoe and I’ve been waiting impatiently for them ever since Vogue shared this image from The Row Spring 2025 presentation.
T-strap heels were once a staple in my closet, and since I retired them, I’ve been on the hunt for an enduring, wearable flat version; enter The Row Square T-Strap Flats.

Sitting somewhere between a classic flat and a Mary-Jane, the T-strap is feminine but with an attitude. It's not too pretty and not too conventional. These are made of buttery bone-revealing lambskin leather, have an adjustable dainty side gold buckle, and come in a few colourways. They are the epitome of elegance.
This style is only offered in whole sizes, they run slightly large, and are decently wide. Try your true size first unless you’re a half-size, in which case size down to the nearest whole size. You may eventually need to resole them or do so initially to prevent damage, as they're thin.
Recently, a member of our Substack chat group posed an interesting question regarding styling options for T-straps, specifically for those who prefer not to wear skirts. I began to think of various outfit combinations that could highlight the versatility of T-strap flats and I’ve come up with some options including a few with skirts, for those who wear them.

Sometimes you fall deeper in love with a piece over time, and such was the case for the Issi tee (this could be a nice alternative). The pants are just cropped enough for a full-frontal. See my toes—that’s how soft they are.
I live in maxi skirts (trending or not), and the slit shows the shoe profile nicely. The blazer was an old TRR find but is an essential and usually available somewhere. I’m in a size 0. The bag was a treat I purchased to lighten my mood in the winter. I’d seen it a couple of times, but when I held it, I fell for it. It’s silky soft and carries more than you’d think.
Peep-shoe. Who says they need to be front and centre? Feel free to wear them with wide-leg pants that show a modest hint of T as you move. And if you missed out on The Row Fletcher (or don’t want to part with the cash), don’t sleep on this jacket. I like it even better than the OG; the material is softer and it’s a tad longer. I’m in a 2.
I bought this oversized Oxford shirt in Miami, and the colour made me smile. It’s a nice contrast to the femininity of the skirt and brightens the outfit. I wear these earrings pretty much every day and they’re the ones I travel with.
After The Row’s Fall 2025 presentation, I searched for mustard green shirts and found this one under the men’s tab. The skirt is from a couple of seasons ago, but I have an extra one (if you’re interested, message me in the chat group).

I’m not sure why people disliked these jeans and sold theirs. I love them and they’re the perfect length for these shoes (I had them hemmed, of course). They’re mostly sold out now, but these are the next best thing, and they’ve reissued them in some nice colours. Take your true size.

These shirts are offered every season in different colours - they’re lightweight and aren’t too oversized. The rusty tone has served me well and works with black and earthy tones.
A classic look — denim and a white button-down. I took my usual size in the new Eglitta sizing (25).

If you're still not convinced about the T-Strap, I can't help you… maybe MK's shoes are more your vibe.
N xo.
Yes to a style evolution post! Would love to hear your musings on the changes over the years — the good and the bad, and the ‘why’ behind it. What has shifted and what has stayed the same.
Salpa Margaux makes my heart skip a beat every time…❤️ Lovely note, as always!
Ahhhhh!! I’m absolutely in love. None available in my size though (42). 🥲 I’ll keep looking. How do they fit where the leather meets the top of your foot. No cutting in?
