I too have broad shoulders and find it difficult to find blazers without over exaggerated shoulders. I've tried several styles from The Row and really wanted them to work but alas they didn't. Therefore, I agree that being comfortable in my skin also means to not follow trends and instead wear what makes me feel and look good, i.e. blazers without shoulder pads 😉
I have learned over time that when I am uncomfortable in an outfit, it doesn’t even matter if it’s “technically flattering”. Side note but even your “to be improved upon” versions are fantastic outfit inspo 💯will be pairing an oversized colorful button-down with a maxi skirt this week!
This is great! I too love a T shirt with a longer sleeve. I also love a wide leg pant and this is where I often run into problems - I look a little sloppy! The bigger pant does look better with a more slim-fitting top or something sleeveless (not happening), but I just don't feel like myself. I'll be checking out your outfits more closely for tips!
“Not happening” 😂 SAME!!! Esp after menopause for me!! I get that it can look a little sloppy and does if the shirt is a stiff cotton. You gotta go with what works for you. Xo
Whenever a Neelam Noted notification comes through, I save it for when I can step away from the kids, make a cup of Joe, time to savour the wise and witty words, knowing I'll be uplifted afterwards. My mindfulness moment. Thanks Neelam!
This is 100% what I have been thinking lately Neelam! Now that I'm in my 40s, I have realised that there are certain things I love wearing and which make me feel confident and empowered in, and others that don't. I, too, have broad shoulders (must be an Indian gene?!) and a boyish, straight torso (despite 20 years of Pilates!) and am tired of well-meaning friends and (not so well-meaning) sales assistants proclaiming "I don't know what you mean! You're so tiny!" Please. I know my body very well by now. I can see and feel how certain shapes (like a v-neck) balance out my proportions and make me feel more feminine, which (most importantly) is how I like to feel. I no longer care what's being projected out there in the fashion world. I know what makes me feel "me" and being authentic to that is now the litmus test for every purchase. Pity it took me so long!
I love creating my playlists. Music is such a big part of my life. Or at least, it was, and I’m always trying to find ways to bring it back into my life :)
I love the insight into how you think about putting these looks together. Would be a great regular feature -- hint hint :-)
I love you lady. ❤️
XO!
Hell yeah!
😉

💯 I always feel better when I follow my instincts. There are so many other options - why get stuck in a trend that doesn’t work for you! ;)

Aww, thank you so much!!
Awesome Note, thank you! I just have to remember it's okay to disappoint a sales person if it's not a piece for me :-)
Love the insights - ❤️
Nice to see you here Alexis!! Xo

Yes I do believe it’s an Indian trait. Broad shouldered ladies unite!! And yes - that feeling of “this is very me” is wonderful. ❤️
You may want to refresh the article occasionally - sometimes I update links. I updated the link for the blue linen shirt in the last photo.
Yup. I’m reduced to a small child in a nanosecond. And I used stand in fear of judgement, waiting for the reprimand.
